Disseminate

This project was completed for Rebeca Mendez's visual communication class in fall 2019. Over the course of the quarter chose a geographical location in Southern California, researched it, and created a photo project utilizing the history and influence of our chosen locations.

I selected the Eagle Rock Substation, now an abandoned building on the east side of Los Angeles in the city of Eagle Rock. While researching I discovered the rich history behind this station that was directly responsible for the expansion of Los Angeles through its connection to the power supply of the trolley car system.

For the final presentation of this photo series I decided to create a minimal, architectural book. I hand bound it using coptic stitching and printed it on matte photo paper. The cover and back are a list of the coordinates where the images were taken. each page in the book contains an image, the time I took it, the coordinates and milage from the substation, traveling up the page as I get further and further from Los Angeles.
